The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication,  is one of the 24 independent schools at Arizona State University and named in honor of veteran broadcast journalist Walter Cronkite.

We enjoyed exploring the Marguerite and Jack Clifford Gallery, which features artifacts from journalism history:

The weather is always perfect at ASU but the holiday spirit is alive and well in the downtown School of Public Affairs Office of Career Services:

 

With so many skate-boarders on the ASU Tempe Campus, special parking racks are provided!

 As you can see, we had a fantastic time visiting ASU. Thanks to all of the staffers who took time to show us around. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Cornell University

Cornell University

EHS has been happy to host several hundred Cornell students and The Statler Hotel is always a wonderful host when we visit Cornell!

The Statler Hotel is the showcase for Cornell’s world-renowned School of Hotel Administration, and, as a “Teaching Hotel,” it also integrates several courses into hotel operations and provides career-related job experience for students:

High Point University

High Point University

 While we were in charming North Carolina, we also paid our very first visit to the beautiful High Point University campus. We’ve had three HPU students staying with us this summer, all interning for media companies.

Here are some photos from our visit, and some of the terrific information we learned!

 

Media Fellows Program

Each year 16 incoming communication majors are granted membership into High Point University’s Media Fellows Program through the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication. Media Fellows live in a living-learning community their freshman year and have options to travel abroad. During their college career, Media Fellows also participate in summer internships at national media companies, participate in seminars related to their major and produce a Capstone project their senior year.

 

Wanek Center

From the cinema on the first floor to the upscale restaurant on the fifth floor, to the two-story state-of-the-art “gaming and restaurant” concept and much more, students enjoy multiple environments for fellowship all in one central location.

 

 

Slane Student Center

At 90,000 square feet, Slane Student Center is the definitive center of activity for HPU students. The university’s 450-seat cafeteria, campus post office, bookstore, meeting rooms and recreation areas, including a basketball court, aerobics room, cardiovascular center, fully equipped weight room and indoor running track, are located here. Outside, Slane is a popular gathering place for students with a tiered dining terrace, basketball courts, the Maynard Swimming Pool and 18-person Jacuzzi.

As you can see, we had a great time exploring HPU’s vast campus. We are excited to have HPU students staying with us this summer, and hope to continue to welcome them again next summer!

Queens University of Charlotte

Queens University of Charlotte

This was our first visit to Queens University, nestled in a historic tree-filled neighborhood in Charlotte, NC.

The office of Internship & Career Programs is located in a charming building with an real live porch swing!

 

In 1996, the Internship and Career Development Program began requiring a minimum of six credit hours for all students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Today it boasts 100 percent participation from the university’s student body. 

We had a great time and look forward to visiting another time soon!

EHS visits MIT

MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)

MIT is a vast and inspiring campus to visit, where the contrast between old and new are visible at every turn.

We stumbled upon the “Silk Pavilion”, created by 6,500 silk worms with the help of a computer-numerically controlled machine:

We also discovered some new-age cars and the incredible Stata Center designed by Frank Gehry:

 

 

We love the original buildings though, especially the Great Dome, commonly referred to as “The Center of the Universe” by the MIT community:
