EHS’s Toy Drive Success!

Toy Drive Success!

We are happy to announce that the EHS Toy Drive was a huge success — resulting in a collection of over 150 toys for children in need!

These toys were donated to the Trinity Church in Staten Island, and then delivered to Hurricane Sandy families.

Additionally, the EHS Staff responded to “wish letters” for three children at a NYC Housing Authority Community Center on 120th street in Manhattan, and for nine children/teens at Today’s Champions — a school in Queens — for a total of 12 holiday wishes coming true!

Not ready to stop giving back just yet, residents and staff also volunteered at St. John’s Bread and Life on December 16th. Check out some great photos from the event here.

Enormous thanks to all involved, and happy holidays, everyone!

Last stop in Cali: UC Davis!

Our final stop in California was to beautiful UC Davis. We met with some great staffers and really enjoyed walking around campus… check out these “talking heads” statues at the Celeste Turner Wright Hall !

Our visit was definitely a memorable way to end our California journey, we thank the UC Davis staff for being such great hosts, and of course hope to see the students in NYC soon.

Pitzer College

Our stop at Los Angeles’s Pitzer College was both lovely and filled with learning. Not only were we able to meet with staff and hear more about how they help their students get ahead (not for nothing, the school was recently ranked high for successfully graduating low-income students) but we also got to hear first-hand all about the launch of the Robert Redford Conservatory — the first ever conservatory devoted entirely to Southern California sustainability issues.

We loved walking around and taking in the scenery too, such as below… now this is what we call A+ tile art!

Hope to make a trip back soon. Thanks, Pitzer!

UC Santa Barbara

While in Cali, we also made a trip to beautiful UC Santa Barbara— a great campus with both biking AND walking lanes!

We met with many wonderful staff members and enjoyed strolling around the breathtaking campus. We hope to see some UCSB students this summer in our residences!
