Located in Westerville, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, Otterbein University was bright and cheery on our visit due to the burst of cardinal red (one of the schools’ colors) displayed throughout campus. Students on campus participate in the tending of community gardens on campus that serve the community, Summer camp programs for kids, adults and athletes and a multitude of sustainability programs that keep Otterbein green!
The Center for Career Planning also provides many services and programs to help student in their search for internship and employment. For example, the Center for Career Planning publishes an online Internship Manual for Otterbein students to ensure optimal internship success: http://www.otterbein.edu/Files/pdf/Career_Planning/InternshipManual.pdf
Otterbein students, faculty and staff are doing great things for the town, state, country and the world! We know that makes Cardy the Cardinal proud!
Kenyon College with notable alumni such as President Rutherford B. Hayes and a famous actor and philanthropist Paul Newman is a beautiful campus. The dusting of snow on our visit made campus glisten! Our stop to the Career Development Office was memorable as the staff there really encourage students to complete multiple internships throughout their collegiate career. With an active Facebook page, programs like Interview Stream (a mock interview service) and a variety of employer interview sessions, student can’t help but succeed.
The Career Development Office is also an advocate for the on campus Innovation Greenhouse program which seeks to give students entrepreneurial and creative training while on campus. Student may then carry this skills into the workplace. To learn more about this program, please visit: http://www.kenyon.edu/entrepreneur.xml
Keep an eye out for Kenyon College interns and grads, they are doing big things!
A university located on a hill makes for beautiful views of the town below. It is at Denison University where time honored traditions like buzzard watching in the skies above, searching for ghosts in the library, enjoying a frozen custard at Whit’s and devouring a Snagel (a bagel, toasted and topped with cream cheese and a sprinkle of brown sugar) at the Bandersnatch that, coupled with outstanding academic excellent, make Denison a great place to be.
The Career Services office at Denison has a time honored and student valued program of its own: Now in its 22nd year, the Denison Internship Program (formerly called “May Term”) provides students with the opportunity to explore career fields of interest and apply their academic coursework to the world of work. Every December Career Exploration & Development publishes an internship catalog that outlines the internship program, lists “Denison Exclusive” & national internship opportunities and contains sample resumes and cover letters. Students are also welcome to arrange/design internships on their own.
What a great day in Granville, Ohio! Hope to visit again soon.
