Carleton College & St. Olaf College

Carleton College

Located in Northfield, MN where the town motto is “Cows, Colleges and Contentment,” Carleton College students are lucky to have such a dedicated and resourceful career services office.  One of the first things we notice about the career services office is all of the resources that are available for students to review and browse through.  We were happy to know that the EHS resources will now be included.  In addition to a weekly newsletter, the career services office also maintains a very healthy website with tips and advice for students.  What a great career services team!

However, Carleton College staff have been making headlines for years , in fact, former College President, Laurence McKinley Gould, was the Second in Command on the Byrd Antarctic Expedition from 1928-30.  McKinley details his experience in his book “Cold: The Record of an Antarctic Sledge Journey.”  Additionally, the arboretum on campus, Cowling Arboretum, boasts an extensive 15-mile trail system that has been ranked by Runner’s Magazine as the top place to run in Minnesota, and one of the top 10 in the country.

St. Olaf College

St. Olaf College, also known as “The Hill,” is best recognized for its world-class mathematics and music programs tucked away on a beautiful campus in Northfield, MN.  St. Olaf ranks 11th overall among the nation’s 262 baccalaureate colleges in the number of graduates who go on to earn doctoral degrees and The Center for Experiential Learning does a great job of assisting students to find their next step.

In fact, The Center for Experiential Learning reports that 55 percent of the Class of 2010 was employed within six months of graduation, 29 percent enrolled in graduate school or other advanced study, and 16 percent engaged in full-time volunteer service.  Nine St. Olaf graduating seniors were named Fulbright Scholars for 2011–12. Since 1995 79 St. Olaf students have received prestigious Fulbright scholarships. Wow, that’s some impressive stuff!

We had a great time learning and visiting on both campuses, and look forward to welcoming students/interns from both to stay with us in NYC very soon!
