Cornell University

Cornell University

EHS has been happy to host several hundred Cornell students and The Statler Hotel is always a wonderful host when we visit Cornell!

The Statler Hotel is the showcase for Cornell’s world-renowned School of Hotel Administration, and, as a “Teaching Hotel,” it also integrates several courses into hotel operations and provides career-related job experience for students:

High Point University

High Point University

While we were in charming North Carolina, we also paid our very first visit to the beautiful High Point University campus. We’ve had three HPU students staying with us this summer, all interning for media companies.

Here are some photos from our visit, and some of the terrific information we learned!

Media Fellows Program

high point 3

Each year 16 incoming communication majors are granted membership into High Point University’s Media Fellows Program through the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication. Media Fellows live in a living-learning community their freshman year and have options to travel abroad. During their college career, Media Fellows also participate in summer internships at national media companies, participate in seminars related to their major and produce a Capstone project their senior year.

Wanek Center

Wanek Center High Point

From the cinema on the first floor to the upscale restaurant on the fifth floor, to the two-story state-of-the-art “gaming and restaurant” concept and much more, students enjoy multiple environments for fellowship all in one central location.

Slane Student Center

highpoint4

At 90,000 square feet, Slane Student Center is the definitive center of activity for HPU students. The university’s 450-seat cafeteria, campus post office, bookstore, meeting rooms and recreation areas, including a basketball court, aerobics room, cardiovascular center, fully equipped weight room and indoor running track, are located here. Outside, Slane is a popular gathering place for students with a tiered dining terrace, basketball courts, the Maynard Swimming Pool and 18-person Jacuzzi.

As you can see, we had a great time exploring HPU’s vast campus. We are excited to have HPU students staying with us this summer, and hope to continue to welcome them again next summer!

Queens University of Charlotte

Queens University of Charlotte

This was our first visit to Queens University, nestled in a historic tree-filled neighborhood in Charlotte, NC.

The office of Internship & Career Programs is located in a charming building with an real live porch swing!

 Queens University 3

In 1996, the Internship and Career Development Program began requiring a minimum of six credit hours for all students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Today it boasts 100 percent participation from the university’s student body.

We had a great time and look forward to visiting another time soon!

EHS visits MIT

MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)

MIT is a vast and inspiring campus to visit, where the contrast between old and new are visible at every turn.

We stumbled upon the “Silk Pavilion”, created by 6,500 silk worms with the help of a computer-numerically controlled machine:

We also discovered some new-age cars and the incredible Stata Center designed by Frank Gehry:

We love the original buildings though, especially the Great Dome, commonly referred to as “The Center of the Universe” by the MIT community:

As you can see, we had a wonderful time and hope to visit another time soon!

University of Southern Mississippi

Our final stop in the Bayou state was at the University of Southern Mississippi, situated in Hattiesburg. We were fortunate to have another bright, shiny day on our side to help us get the most out of our time on campus!

Here are some photos from our visit:

This gorgous antique car is parked in the lobby of the Theater and Dance building on campus.  We wish that it could have been taken out for a spin!

Built in 1930, The Dome is definitely a campus favorite and focal point:

I found Nemo inside the Student Union 😉

The Power House Restaurant stands out on campus because of its delicious dishes and its distinctive smokestack.  The smokestack was the original power source that heated campus!

Thanks so much to everyone who took time to show us around campus.

We had a great time and hope to see some Golden Eagles this summer in NYC!

Mississippi State University

Next, we made a visit to the sprawling campus of  Mississippi State UniversityWe were lucky to have had a bright shining day for our walk around the beautiful campus. Here are some of our favorite sights:

A double take was needed when passing the PGA Golf Management Department at MSU.  I was sure that I had just passed a Pro Shop!

It’s no surprise that this beautiful sitting area is right outside of the Interior Design Department.  Their students’ keen visual eyes make this spot both beautiful and blissful!

Could this campus get any prettier?!

University of Mississippi

We are happy to report our photos are about to get much sunnier as we tell you more about our travels down south!  We recently toured the beautiful state of Mississippi, as well as a few of the impressive universities that call MS home.

Our first stop was to the sprawling campus of University of Mississippi, where we quickly learned how to say “Go Ole Miss!”  We also quickly learned how hard the UMiss Career Center works to make sure its students have a bright future.  Here are some other highlights from our trip:

A trip to Ole Miss would not be complete without stopping by their Spectacular Stadium!:

Smack dab in the middle of campus is this beautiful fountain! If only it had been a little warmer for it to be flowing (guess we’ll just have to come back!)…

Olemiss2

Although seemingly empty today, The Grove comes alive during football season when tailgaters travel miles to cheer on their team:

Thanks to everyone who took the time to show us around, hope to visit again soon and to see some Ole Miss students this summer in NYC!

Syracuse University

The next stop on our travels was to the gorgeous campus of Syracuse University in upstate New York. We are thrilled to say every summer EHS welcomes a solid group of bright ‘Cuse students who are here doing internships to get a head start on their careers.

Founded in 1991, the Tina Press and David Rubin Career Development Center (CDC) in the Newhouse School of Public Communication, offers a comfortable place to research communications careers, find job and internship opportunities and learn how to network.

Syracuse 2

To date, we have 9 Syracuse students already planning on spending this summer with EHS! We can’t wait to help them get the most out of their time in NYC.  In the meantime, we’ll share some of our favorite moments from our visit:

Syracuse takes their team spirit very seriously. We found this colorful bunch in the School of Architecture:

Syracuse alumna Vanessa Williams wore this dress in the 1983 Miss America pageant. It now resides in the Sue Ann Genet Costume Collection and Research Center at Syracuse University along with hundreds of other designer classics:

And here are some more classic designs:

Thanks so much again to all who took time to show us around, and a special shout-out to our Syracuse Campus Ambassador Matt Mazer for spreading the word about EHS when we aren’t on campus.

See you this summer, ‘Cuse!

Johnson and Wales University (Miami)

While we were in the sunshine state, we made sure to visit the Miami campus of the esteemed  Johnson & Wales University. Not only did we learn about the terrific training programs the school has in place for its students, but we got to take in some fun sights while we were at it…

Not your regular Campus bookstore. Johnson & Wales Miami has a great selection of knives for their culinary students:

The campus bookstore also sells funny t-shirts:
